Description
The caretaker's house at Carter Knowle Junior School was built in 1906 by the architectural firm Holmes & Watson for the Sheffield Education Committee. This two-storey building, featuring garrets, is designed in the Arts and Crafts style and constructed from coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof.
The front facade has a coped gable with a shouldered segmental pediment. On the ground floor, there is a single reglazed window to the left and a double window to the right. Above these, a double composite sash window serves the garret. The entrance on the left features a late 20th-century glazed door with an overlight, while to the right is a reglazed canted bay window with a hipped roof. The left side of the building includes a large box dormer with an original three-light casement window.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is considered an ancillary structure to Carter Knowle Junior School and is included for its group value.
