Description
The workshop range located to the south-east of Sylvester Works dates from around 1845. It is constructed of brick with a rendered rubble plinth and features stone dressings, topped with a hipped slate roof that has two side wall stacks. The building has three storeys plus a basement and consists of a nine-window range.
The windows are primarily glazing bar casements, most of which have segmental heads. On the west side, there is a central three-light window flanked by three two-light windows, along with a plank door and another window to the left. Above this, there are ten windows on a sill band, with a hatch and another window to the right. The ground floor has wooden steps leading to a central plank door with an overlight, flanked by three three-light windows. There are single doors on either side and a single window to the left. The basement features a doorway to the left and a blocked three-light window.
At the south end, there are two flat-headed windows on the third floor, one of which has been reglazed. The east side includes a two-light window to the left, an inserted casement to the right, followed by a six-pane window and a segment-headed window. The third floor has a continuous range of windows on a sill band, arranged in a pattern of three, seven, and six. The interior was not inspected, and the building was vacant at the time of the survey.
