Description
No. 92 on Arundel Street is a range of Little Mesters' workshops that has been converted into a gymnasium and warehouse. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a hipped slate roof with two stacks at the rear. It has a plinth and a wooden gutter supported by wooden brackets. The structure is three storeys tall and has eight windows across its front, which faces the street.
The street-facing end of the building includes a plain sash window with a blocked window above it, both adorned with brick flat arches. The ground floor features a 19th-century wooden shopfront with a nine-pane shop window on the left and a moulded four-panel door with an overlight on the right, both framed by pilasters and topped with a wooden cornice. On the left side of the building, there are three brick buttresses.
On the first floor, there is a door on the left accessed by external stone steps, followed by three reglazed windows. To the right, there are two early 19th-century three-light glazing bar casements, succeeded by two 20th-century cross casements. The upper floor has five reglazed windows on the left and three three-light glazing bar casements on the right.
The ground floor also has a window on the left, flanked by a 20th-century double door on the left and two blocked openings on the right. This is followed by an elliptical arched carriage opening with double board doors, and then three reglazed windows. The interior may contain grinding hulls. This workshop block was previously associated with No. 92A, which served as the master's house.
