Description
The lodge to The Towers, along with the adjoining boundary wall and gate piers, was built around 1874 for James Wilson. It features coursed squared stone, partly rendered, with ashlar dressings and a slate roof that has a single rendered gable stack. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window range in an L-plan layout. On the drive side, there is a gabled wing to the right with a traceried bargeboard and a two-light casement window. Below this, there is a canted wooden bay window with plain sashes, and to the left, there is a late 20th-century window and door. The interior has not been inspected.
The property includes two square ashlar gate piers with moulded plinths and cornices, topped with panelled octagonal caps that have spires and lamps. There is a pair of wrought-iron gates, and to the right of the lodge, there is a railing on a chamfered plinth with a smaller wrought-iron gate. To the left, the boundary wall extends approximately 50 meters and features flat coping. This structure is included for its group value.
