Description
Shirecliffe House, now part of Parkwood College Department of Management, is a house built around 1840 and restored around 1950 after sustaining bomb damage during World War II. The building is constructed of ashlar and features a hipped slate roof. It has a plinth, a string course, wooden eaves moulding, and angle pilasters. The front facade consists of two storeys with a three-window range, where the centre slightly projects. The central doorcase is flanked by engaged Greek Doric columns and topped with a pediment, featuring a 20th-century half-glazed door and overlight. On either side of the door, there is a single window. The left side of the building has three plain sash windows, while the right side has two smaller windows, one of which is blocked. Below the right side, there is a 19th-century canted bay window with three plain sashes. To the left of this bay window, there are three plain sashes, with the rightmost being smaller. The right side of the building has two 12-pane sashes on each floor, and to the right, there is a two-storey addition from the 19th and 20th centuries, which has four windows on each floor.
