Description

Warren House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone and features a 20th-century cement-tile roof and pantiles. The building has a T-shaped plan with a wing at the rear center and stands two storeys high with an attic, displaying four windows on the first floor. The large quoins and the chamfered, quoined doorway add to its character, which is fitted with a 20th-century panelled door. Each floor has renewed sash windows with glazing bars and projecting stone sills, but no lintels are present. The eaves are boxed, with shaped kneelers and gable copings, and there is a large central ridge stack.

On the left side of the house, there are two 2-light square-faced mullioned windows on the ground floor, which have casements with glazing bars, along with a similar window in the attic. The rear eaves are lower than those at the front. The wing features a doorway on the right with a chamfered, bonded surround, a cambered lintel, and a hoodmould. To the left of this doorway, there are two windows similar to those on the left return of the main range, and three single-light windows on the first floor, two of which are double-chamfered.

Inside, the kitchen in the rear wing has a spliced spine beam supported by a Doric column, a chamfered ashlar fireplace with a cambered arch and keystone, and a staircase with original newels and handrail, although the splat balusters are likely replacements.
