Description
Stonecroft is a house that was originally a row of cottages, built in the mid-18th century and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed, squared, dressed sandstone and features a slate roof. The building has a T-shaped plan with a wing at the rear center and stands two stories tall, with a layout of 1:2:1 bays, and a central part that is gabled. The corners are accentuated with chamfered ashlar quoins. The central doorway is rusticated ashlar with a cornice above it. Each bay on both floors contains a 2-light transomed wooden casement window with a projecting sill and a flat arch, except for the outer bays on the first floor, which have windows that rise as half-dormers. The gabled central bays feature kneelers and gable copings, as do the end gables, and there are rendered stacks at the ends.
