Description

This is an early to mid-18th century farmhouse with an attached outbuilding, situated on the Green in North Anston. The farmhouse is constructed of squared, coursed limestone with a pantile roof. It is a two-storey-and-attic building, five bays wide. Large quoins are visible on the exterior. The central bay features a part-glazed door set within a pedimented wooden doorcase. Windows are 15-pane sashes in bead-moulded ashlar surrounds, with lowered sills; first-floor windows are mostly 9-pane sashes, except for the central window which has 6 panes and a surround linked to the doorcase. Renewed kneelers and gable copings are present. A stone end stack is on the left side, and a 20th-century three-light roof dormer is located on the right. The attached outbuilding is set back and in line, with a 20th-century front addition that is now incorporated into the main house. The outbuilding's right side has three doorways with chamfered details from the early 18th century, a blocked triangular vent, and a boarded first-floor door. Garage doors are on the right return. Inside the farmhouse, there is a mid-18th century oak staircase with turned balusters, some contemporary doors, and a bolection-moulded fireplace in the left-end room.
