Description

The Leylands is a late 18th-century farmhouse with later additions to the rear. Constructed of squared limestone, with a stone slate roof, the farmhouse is three storeys high and four bays wide. Large quoins are present. The main entrance, located in the second bay, features a six-panel door set within a bonded ashlar surround and a rustic wood porch. Other bays have 16-pane sashes in square-faced surrounds. Smaller first-floor windows are present in the same style, and 8-pane sashes illuminate the second floor. Shaped kneelers and gable copings are visible externally. A stone chimney stack is located at the left end, and a renewed ashlar ridge stack sits between bays three and four. Inside, a contemporary staircase features square newel posts and slender, turned balusters.
