Description
Elms Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1864 for Charles Thellusson of Brodsworth Hall, associated with nearby farm buildings. It features a cement-rendered exterior and a slate roof, with two storeys and a layout of three by three bays, topped with twin roofs. The building has an ashlar plinth and large, projecting quoins. The main front, which faces Brodsworth Hall, includes a narrow, projecting, gabled central bay with a double door that is flanked by pilasters and topped with a pediment. Above the door is a casement window and a quatrefoil panel, with shaped kneelers and gable copings. Each of the outer bays has a renewed canted-bay window beneath a four-pane sash window, which has sill blocks in a projecting surround. The roof is hipped, with rendered stacks on each ridge. At the rear, there is a lean-to porch and evidence of former wings that have been removed. The left side has four-pane sash windows in each bay, while the right side is similar but features a canted-bay window on the left. The farmhouse is included for its group value with the surrounding buildings.
