Description
Bawtry Bridge is an early 19th-century bridge that was widened in the 20th century. It is constructed of ashlar and cyclopean rusticated ashlar, set on a rusticated plinth. The bridge features a central rusticated arch with a keystone, flanked by single rusticated cutwaters and slightly smaller similar arches. There are single coped piers on either side that rise above the parapet. The cutwaters transition into flat, slightly projecting coped piers, which also extend just above the parapet. The parapet itself is coped and includes a band at road level, along with single round terminating coped piers on triangular bases. The widening of the bridge is dated 1940 and is marked on the right side of the south elevation.
