Description

Scawsby Hall is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings, although part of it remains unoccupied. It dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone alterations. The building is constructed of roughcast limestone rubble and features stone slate roofs with pantiles at the rear. The main structure is T-shaped, with lower additions to the left and at the rear-left angle. It has two and three storeys, with a window arrangement of 1:2 on the first floor.

The main range has an entrance located to the left of the center, featuring a part-glazed door with an overlight that includes margin-light glazing. This entrance is framed by a columned wooden porch that has a dentilled cornice and a pediment. To the left, there are three-light, horizontally-sliding sash windows with glazing bars on all three floors, while to the right, there are tripartite sashes with glazing bars on two floors. A rendered ridge stack is positioned to the left of the center, and the right gable features shaped kneelers and roll-moulded gable copings.

The lower section to the left includes a door to the left of a three-light window with glazing bars, and a central light that is sashed. There is a two-light, horizontally-sliding sash window on the first floor, accompanied by a corbelled lateral stack projection on its left. The left side has ashlar gable copings, and a tall stack on the front roof slope rises above the main range.

At the rear, there is a three-light mullioned and transomed window in the main range, along with an end stack on the rear wing. The right return features a sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor, complete with dripmoulds above, and a three-light, double-chamfered gable window. The interior has not been inspected.
