7/144 Old stable-block and bothy to Cusworth Hall

GV II

Stable-block and bothy, now used as woodman's store, with attached toilet-block and disused cafe. Probably early C18. For the Cusworth Hall Estate. Rubble limestone, stone slate roof. 2-storey, elongated range with outshuts to rear. Large quoins. Central doorway has ovolo-moulded quoins and biarcuate lintel. Flanking windows have square-faced surrounds, that to right boarded, that to left with casement with glazing bars. Old boarded hatch over, flanked by slit vents. Quoined doorway to right has C20 garage opening on its right and casement with glazing bars over. Quoined doorway to far left has enlarged opening with casement on its left; rebated, square-faced surround above door has 2 inserted openings on its left. Shaped kneelers and gable copings. Rear: rendered out shut forms toilet-block and former cafe. Left return: slit vents; inserted lst-floor door with wooden jib.

Interior: some simple horse stalls remain. Collared, principal-rafter trusses, double purlins. Included for group value.
