HOOTON PAGNELL LIDGET LANE (north side, off) Farmbuilding immediately to north-west of Stotfold Farmhouse

GV II

House now calf-pen. Late C17, altered. Roughcast sandstone, stone slate eaves courses to pantile roof. 2 storeys, 2-room plan. Chamfered, quoined doorway to left of centre has Tudor-arched lintel; date 1952 in render above. To left: remains of a double-chamfered, mullioned window with dripstone. To right, inserted door with wood lintel has small casement on its right. 1st floor: 2 double- chamfered, 2-light, mullioned windows to left (now boarded) have dripstones. Similar opening to right now lowered to form door. Projecting end stacks now truncated and roofed over. Rear: C20 lean-to not of special interest.

Interior: massive kitchen fireplace to ground-floor left has chamfered, segmental arch with projecting keystone. Transverse ceiling beam with tongue-stopped chamfer. Right gable has blocked fireplace to ground floor; chamfered, arched fireplace to room above. Original king-post trusses with cambered tie beams linked by axial ceiling beam.
