Description
This is a row of four cottages located in Hickleton Village, likely built in the 17th century, with later additions from the late 18th to early 19th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed rubble limestone, which has been heightened with deeply-coursed stone, and feature stone slate eaves courses beneath a pantile roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have a total of four windows on the first floor. The corners of the cottages are marked by quoins.
There are paired central doorways, as well as a doorway at each end, all featuring boarded doors with planted ovolo-moulded beads and ashlar surrounds topped with Tudor-arched lintels. Each cottage includes a 2-light mullioned window with a 20th-century casement in a recessed, chamfered surround on each floor. The cottages have two rendered brick ridge stacks. At the rear, the outshut has been heightened with elongated dormers.
