Description
The Gables is a vicarage, likely built around 1879 by the architect G. E. Street, who also designed the nearby church. The building is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features a tiled roof. It has two storeys and consists of three gabled bays, with a lower intermediate gable that, along with the right bay, projects slightly forward. The entrance, which is pointed-arched, is located in the second bay. The windows include single, two-light, and three-light configurations, with a four-light window on the ground floor to the right and a six-light mullioned and transomed window on the first floor of the lower gabled bay, both featuring relieving arches. The three main gable apexes are decorated with tile-hanging. The building has tall ashlar end stacks with plinths and cornices, as well as ridge crestings. On the garden front, there are three gabled bays, with the central bay projecting forward. The windows include four-light options, some of which are mullioned and transomed, along with one eight-light mullioned and transomed window at the centre of the first floor.
