Description
The cottage at High Wells Farm, located approximately 10 metres west of the new farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century, though it may have earlier origins. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a two-room plan with a later rear outshut. It has two bays, with quoins at the corners. The near-central doorway has a quoined surround and a deep lintel, while there is a blocked later doorway immediately to the left. To the left, there is one bay with 2-light flat-faced mullion windows, and to the right, a bay with similar 3-light windows that have re-used mullions. The gable ends have copings on cut kneelers, and there is a truncated ashlar stack on the right side. At the rear, the outshut is to the right, and there is one 2-light double-chamfered window to the left, although the mullion has been removed.
