Description

13 and 15 Goodramgate are two houses that have been converted into shops and flats. They were originally built in the mid-19th century, following extensive remodelling of two medieval structures, and were largely rebuilt around 1972. Both buildings were originally timber-framed. The front is rendered and white-washed, featuring timber guttering on paired modillions. The rear of No.13 is made of orange-brown brick in stretcher bond, while No.15 has a rear of yellow-brown brick. The front has a slate roof, and the rear is covered with pantiles.

The buildings are two storeys high with attics and have a four-window front, with the first floors jettied. No.13 features a shopfront with sunk panel jambs, a plain fascia, and a projecting modillion cornice supported by heavy grooved consoles. The glazed and panelled door is recessed between half-canted plate glass windows above sunk panel risers. At the right end, there is a 20th-century panelled passage door. No.15 has two shopfronts with plain jambs and fascia, along with a projecting continuous moulded cornice on shaped brackets. The left shopfront includes a disused glazed and panelled door, recessed to the right of a four-light window with shaped mullions above a sunk panel riser. The right shopfront has a part-glazed door to the left of a plate glass window.

The first-floor windows are one-pane sashes, while the attic windows are gabled half-dormers with four-pane sashes, all featuring painted sills. The first-floor windows and dormer gables are adorned with pierced scalloped bargeboards and finials. Inside, posts and wall-plates are visible in places on the ground floor, embedded in later fabric.
