Description

No. 24 Goodramgate is a house that has been converted into a shop and hairdressing salon. It has origins dating back to the early 17th century and was remodeled in the 18th and 19th centuries. The shopfront, which dates from the 19th century, features 20th-century glazing. The front of the building is made of stuccoed brick, while the rear is constructed from orange-grey brick in stretcher bond, with areas of red-brown brick and remnants of timber-framing. The roof is covered with pantiles.

The exterior is two stories high with a gabled front that has two windows. The shopfront includes a moulded fascia and cornice, along with an integral sun canopy. It has plate glass windows over tiled risers, which flank angled glazed doors. The first-floor windows are 1-pane sashes set in moulded surrounds above a broad sill band. This sill band also creates an eaves frieze that extends along the base of the gable cornice, forming a gable pediment. A fragment of a wall post from an earlier neighboring house can be seen to the left of the first floor. At the rear, a lower two-story wing projects to the left. The rear wall of the front range features four-pane sash windows on the first floor and in the attic.

The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the building was known as the Beech Tree Public House in 1851.
