Description
This building, located at 23 Goodramgate in York, is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from around 1800 and incorporates parts of a late medieval timber-framed structure along with a later wing. The front is made of painted brick in a Flemish bond pattern, while the rear features orange brick in a stretcher bond. The building has a timber frieze and guttering supported by shaped brackets, topped with a pantile roof and brick stacks.
The exterior is two stories high with a two-window front. The shopfront includes glazed and panelled double doors situated between plate glass windows. On the first floor, there are 4-pane sash windows. At the rear, there is a two-storey gabled wing, although the ground floor is obscured by a 20th-century extension. A small sash window is located to the left on the first floor.
Inside, one post is visible at the rear of the first floor. The ground floor retains a ceramic tile frieze decorated with fruit swags and beribboned shells.
