Description
9 and 11 Goodramgate are two shops built in the mid-19th century, featuring 20th-century shopfronts. The buildings are constructed from orange-grey brick in Flemish bond, topped with a slate roof and brick stacks. The exterior showcases a three-storey, six-bay front, including a canted corner bay between two bays facing Goodramgate and three bays facing Aldwark. Both shops have plate glass windows set in plain surrounds, with the shop at number 9 having a return on the Aldwark front. On the Goodramgate side, the first-floor window to the right is a tripartite sash with a 12-pane center sash and consoles at the heads of the mullions, while the left window is a 16-pane sash. The second-floor windows are unequal 12-pane sashes. On the Aldwark front, the shopfront includes a former shop door to the left, with 12-pane sashes on the first floor and unequal 9-pane sashes on the second floor. All windows feature flat brick arches and painted stone sills, and there is a moulded eaves cornice on block brackets that returns on both fronts. The interior has not been inspected.
