Description

This is a mid-18th century house, later converted into offices, with alterations from the late 19th century and the 20th century. The front of the building is constructed of orange-brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with red brick dressings and timber guttering. It has three storeys and an attic, and presents a two-window front. A glazed door is located to the right of a shop window with plain pilasters, imposts, a cornice, and grooved brackets. The first and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes, set within brick-quioned openings, with painted stone sills and flat arches of gauged brick. A raised brick band is visible at the second floor level. The guttering is fitted with a fluted rainwater head. The rear of the building includes a three-storey gable end with an attic and a three-storey closet wing, largely hidden by later constructions. An attic window features a squat 6-pane sash, and other windows are set within segmental brick arches. The interior was not inspected, but historical records suggest an original staircase with turned balusters, square knops, and a moulded handrail.
