Description
66 Gillygate is a house built around 1765, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and sits on a stone plinth, topped with a slate roof. The building has three storeys and three bays. The windows are sash style without glazing bars, featuring painted brick flat arches and projecting sills. The right-hand bay includes blind recesses on the upper storeys and a doorway that has a six-panel door. This door is framed by a doorcase with a fanlight, slender engaged columns with acanthus caps, panelled reveals, and a cornice. To the left of the timber modillion eaves cornice, there is a downpipe with a lead hopper. A chimney is located on the left-hand gable. It is noted that the third storey and a back wing are likely early 19th-century additions. The interior has not been inspected.
