Description

This terrace of houses, now comprising 17 houses, a shop, and offices, was built between 1825 and 1828, likely by bricklayer Thomas Rayson senior. The buildings are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, featuring painted stone or stucco dressings, and topped with a hipped slate roof on the left side.

The terrace rises three storeys above cellars, with each house having two bays. The glazing bar sash windows are adorned with painted rusticated lintels that include false keystones. Notably, No.19 has a small flat-roofed attic dormer. At the left end of the terrace, a 20th-century shopfront and doorways occupy the ground floor of No.43 Blossom Street, which also incorporates the former Nos 1 and 2 South Parade. The shopfront extends to cover three bays facing Blossom Street.

Each remaining house features a tripartite bowed glazing bar sash window on the ground floor to the right, with a doorway to the left. The doorcases have engaged reeded columns, a frieze with raised mouldings, panelled reveals, a six-panel door, and an overlight with diagonal glazing bars. Specific features include French doors to the cellar at No.4, a 20th-century lean-to porch over the cellar doorway, and various cellar window configurations in Nos 6, 7, and 8. Nos 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, and 19 have six-panel cellar doors, while No.14 has a 20th-century concrete platform in front of the cellar window. The houses generally have timber gutters on rectangular brackets, except for Nos 4, 5, 6, and 7, which feature plastic gutters. Ridge chimneys are located to the left and right of the former No.2 and to the right of Nos 3-20. The interiors have not been inspected.
