Description
The outhouse and screen wall adjoining the north-west angle of Winteringham Grange Farmhouse date from the late 18th century to early 19th century for the Carrington Estate, with the wall added later in the 19th century. The outhouse is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings, colourwashed, and features traces of incised pointing that imitate ashlar. It has a pantile roof and is square in plan, single storey, and single-bay. The south front has a central blind window panel with a stucco flat arch and colour-washed plaster, along with a 16-pane sliding sash window in relief. There is a small square hatch to the left, and the eaves cornice is stepped and dentilled. The roof is hipped, and there is a round-headed door on the left return. The curved screen wall to the right connects the outhouse with the rear angle of the farmhouse and features a pointed-arch door with a blue brick surround and moulded brick coping. This structure is included for its group value.
