Description

The Vicarage is a vicarage built between 1851 and 1852 by Williams Adams Nicholson of Lincoln. It is constructed of red brick with stucco details and has a Welsh slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan with a central entrance hall on the east front, and there is a small yard and outhouse adjoining to the right. It stands two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays with a deep plinth.

The internal entrance porch features a surround of square columns that support a plain entablature and hood. The half-glazed door is set in a reveal with margin lights above two panels. The ground-floor windows are sashes with margin lights in reveals, complete with sills and raised stucco surrounds that carry cornices and hoods similar to the entrance. On the first floor, there are smaller sashes with margin lights in reveals, painted stone sills, flat lintels, and wrought-iron balconettes supported on scrolls. These balconettes have balusters of alternating hooped and plain bars with finials. The building has a stepped wooden eaves cornice and a hipped roof, with an axial stack to the left and a pair of square-shafted stacks to the rear right, both featuring dentilled cornices and ashlar caps.

On the left return, there are two full-length ground-floor sashes with similar glazing and surrounds as the front, along with four similar first-floor windows. Inside, original features include an open-well staircase with turned balusters, moulded ceiling cornices, marble chimneypieces, and panelled window shutters and doors in architraves.
