Description
Beechwood is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century, with earlier origins visible on the south front. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and squared blocks, featuring red and yellow brick dressings. The front has a Welsh slate roof, while the rear is covered with 20th-century clay tiles. The building has a double-depth plan with a central entrance hall and two rooms, and it is two storeys high with three symmetrical bays. Notable architectural features include quoins, a plinth, and a recessed six-panel door with four glazed panels above two fielded panels, topped by a plain fanlight and a wedge lintel. The windows are recessed sashes with margin lights and projecting sills, also beneath wedge lintels. The eaves board is plain wood, and there are yellow brick end stacks. The left side of the house, facing the road, has four 12-pane sashes under segmental yellow brick arches, with coupled gables that are linked by a coped embattled brick parapet. The rear, which faces Ings Lane, features red brick quoins on the left and sashes with glazing bars beneath segmental arches. The interior has been largely remodelled in the 19th century.
