Description

Roxby Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red and yellow brick, featuring a front in contrasting Flemish bond, while the right side is rendered. The roof is covered with pantiles. The building has a double pile plan with a central entrance hall and stands two storeys tall with an attic, comprising three irregular bays.

The entrance is located to the right of the centre and features a doorcase with an architrave, a pulvinated frieze, and carved consoles that support a moulded pediment. There is a part-glazed 20th-century door beneath a Gothick radial fanlight set within the architrave and plain reveal. One pane of the fanlight is inscribed with "John Bealby August 4 1794." To the right, there is a late 19th to early 20th-century three-light casement window under a keyed stucco cambered arch, while to the left, there is a four-pane sash window in a flush wood surround beneath a keyed stucco flat arch. The first floor features similar sash windows under keyed stucco cambered arches, with a narrower window above the entrance. The eaves cornice is dentilled brick, and the gables are stone-coped with shaped kneelers. There are end stacks and a pointed-arch attic sash window with glazing bars on the left gable.

Inside, the entrance hall boasts an open well staircase with a ramped and wreathed handrail, column-on-vase balusters with square knops, and a moulded ceiling rose and cornice. The ground floor right front and rear rooms have moulded cornices, and there are fielded-panel doors and architraves throughout.
