Description

The building at Selby Farm is a mid-19th century threshing barn, cart-shed, and stable range. It features brick construction with a pantile roof and is approximately 25 metres long. The structure has aisles on the east and west sides, as well as at the north end, with a central wagon entrance on the east side. The northern half serves as a threshing barn, while the southern half contains stables and stores, with a cart-shed in the south-east aisle. The walls are single-storey on the east, west, and north sides, but the overall height is two-storeys.

On the east side, there is a raised wagon entrance with a timber lintel and a hipped roof, complemented by a brick cheek on the left and a weatherboarded cheek on the right. To the left of the entrance, there is a five-bay cart-shed range supported by timber posts, featuring two-fold board doors on strap hinges and 20th-century infilling in two bays. The roof is hipped.

Inside, the timber aisle frame consists of aisle posts that are not linked to tie beams, carrying arcade plates with stop-faced scarf joints. The outer posts support wall plates that tie to the aisle posts, which in turn support struts to the side purlins. The roof is constructed with collared rafters and clasped purlins. The interior has not been fully investigated.
