Description

The windmill tower at Arties Mill is a 7-storey tapered round tower built in 1804, with alterations made around 1980. It is constructed of tarred brick and features 20th-century casements set in segmental-headed openings with stone sills. The tower has a dentilled cornice and a corbelled-out cylindrical top section, topped with a flat roof. It operated as a windmill until it was damaged by fire in 1911, after which it functioned as a machine-driven mill from 1924 until the 1960s. The lower section of the tower is now part of a restaurant. The adjoining buildings do not have special architectural interest.
