Description
This building, located approximately 45 metres east of Wootton Hall, is a house that was originally a pair of houses constructed in 1796 for John Uppleby. It has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The structure is made of brick and features a concrete pantile roof. It forms the north-east side of the stableyard.
The house has a two-room plan with a central entrance at the rear. The west side, which faces the stableyard, is two storeys high and has four bays. On the ground floor, there are two 12-pane sliding sash windows beneath segmental arches, with blocked openings above them. The first floor has two 12-pane sliding sash windows with lintels at the eaves level. A stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice runs along the top. The roof is hipped, and there is a central stack.
On the right return, there is a full-height basket-arched panel containing a 20th-century casement window in a blocked door, along with a 12-pane sliding sash window to the left. The north gate to the stableyard is adjacent to the left angle of the building. This house is included for its group value.
