Description

Vicarage Cottage is a house, originally part of a larger stable and granary building. It was constructed in the late 18th century and converted into a house in the late 19th century, with 20th-century alterations to window openings. The walls are of coursed chalk rubble with brick dressings and a later brick gable-end. The roof is covered with pantiles. The house has a 2-room plan with a central entrance hall and a lean-to extension to the left. Features include a plinth, quoins, and a 20th-century brick buttress at the lower left angle. The front has a 20th-century part-glazed door with a blocked opening to the left, set within a segmental brick arch. The ground floor has 20th-century casement windows under timber lintels. The first floor has three hatches with wooden louvres in brick surrounds. There are stepped brick eaves, tumbled-in brick to the right gable with shaped stone kneelers, and an end stack to the right. The right return has a 20th-century inserted ground-floor sliding casement and large first-floor plank double doors within a brick surround.
