Description
No. 6 Posterngate is a former parish room for Holy Trinity and St Mary's parishes, built in 1864 and converted in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring yellow and blue brick and ashlar dressings, with a rendered right gable and a slate roof that has two coped gable stacks. It is designed in the Venetian Gothic style and includes decorative elements such as sill bands, a string course, and moulded brick eaves with brackets. The structure is two storeys tall, plus a basement, and has a five-window range. The round-headed plain sash windows have polychrome heads and are linked by a hoodmould, with brick pilasters that have leaf capitals separating them. Below these, there are three slightly taller windows flanked by single moulded eight-panel doors with overlights, which are accessed by stone steps with low balustrades. The openings at the lower level are treated similarly to the windows above. Additionally, there is a central segment-headed basement opening with a polychrome head and hoodmould.
