Description
Victoria House is a house that has been converted into printing works, built around 1840, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with stucco dressings and features a pantile roof with a single gable and side wall stacks. It has a rendered plinth, wooden gutter, and brackets. The house is two storeys tall plus garrets and has a single-window range.
On the south front, to the right, there is a 16-pane sash window with a splayed lintel. Below this, to the left, is a wooden doorcase with pilasters and elaborately curved brackets supporting a dentillated cornice that has side breaks. The door is a late 20th-century six-panel design with a blind cobweb fanlight. To the right of the door, there is another 16-pane sash window with moulded scroll brackets supporting a cornice with side breaks.
At the rear, to the right, there are steps leading to a first-floor doorway that features a wooden doorcase with enriched pilasters and scroll brackets supporting a frieze with an inscribed nameplate beneath a dentillated pediment. To the left, there is a segment-headed 16-pane sash window with a splayed lintel. To the right, there is a brick boundary wall with ramped coping, which contains a wooden doorcase with an enriched scroll bracket supporting a cornice and a panelled recess with a 20th-century door. The gable facing the street has a 16-pane sash window in the garret.
