Description
The north-east block at Christopher Pickering Homes in Kingston upon Hull is a group of almshouses, now serving as old people's homes, built in 1914 by architect J H Hirst. The structure is made of brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a plain tile roof with two gable stacks and a single ridge stack, all of which are coped. The building has a plinth and quoins and is a single storey with a four-window range.
In the center, there is a parapeted triple bay with a central triangular pediment, below which is a shaped inscribed panel. The entrance consists of two close boarded doors flanked by single four-light stone mullioned windows. To the sides, there are small loggias with two round-arched openings, each covering a two-light window and a door. Further along, there is a projecting through-eaves dormer with a large coped gable and a four-light stone mullioned window, which is flanked on the outer side by a door.
