Description
The Statue of Queen Victoria, located 280 metres west of the entrance to Pearson Park in Kingston upon Hull, was erected in 1863 and designed by Thomas Earle. Funded by W.H. Moss, the Mayor at the time, the statue features a larger than life-size white marble seated figure on a rectangular pedestal, which includes a moulded plinth and cornice. Each side of the pedestal has a recessed panel displaying coats of arms, with an inscription on the front. The statue is surrounded by patterned cast-iron railings that have rounded corners and corner posts designed in the shape of lions. This statue commemorates Queen Victoria's visit to Hull in 1854.
