Description
The stable block to the former Avenue Hospital, built around 1820, is a two-storey brick structure featuring a stone eaves band and a console cornice. The building has five and three windows at the cills, with four and three windows on the ground floor, all topped with rusticated stone lintels. The windows are later hung sashes with glazing bars. A large main archway, heavily rusticated and vermiculated, is now filled by a modern door. To the left, there is a rusticated round-headed small entrance with a radiating semi-circular fanlight. The building also has a stone plinth. In 1993, the stable block was converted into apartments. It is part of a group that includes Nos 7 to 31 (odd) and the Avenue Hospital, with No 21 (including former No 19) noted for local interest.
