Description

Sewerby School, dated 1849 and designed by Scott and Moffatt, is a Gothic-style building constructed of yellow brick with ashlar dressings. It forms part of a group with Sewerby House. The building has a steep slate roof with ridge tiles and stone coping. It is approximately one and two storeys high. The left side is single-storeyed, featuring two lancet windows. This is followed by a gable containing a trefoil light above two lancets, each with trefoil heads. A canted stone bay window with trefoil-headed lights is situated beneath a porch to the side, displaying a date stone and arched entry. Further features include two lancets flanking a rectangular projection under a hipped roof, topped with an iron finial, and then two further lancets. The rear elevation features hung sash windows with glazing bars.
