Description

  1. 5268 CHURCH LANE (East Side) Sewerby 7.9.51. Gate House, comprising archway and lodges (Nos 2 and 4) to Sewerby House. - Attached forecourt walls and gatepiers to west. TA 2068 17/53 II* GV 2. Mid C19. Lofty pedimented Doric archway in yellow brick with ashlar dressings. Panelled soffit. Flanked by single storey square lodges in yellow brick with rusticated stone quoins. 1 window to each face in moulded stone surround with keystone and cill on tabs, cornice, hung sashes with glazing bars. Stone eaves cornice. Hipped roof. Doors of 6 panels in moulded stone surrounds with cornice. Iron gates. Composition includes curved forecourt wall with stone coping and plinth and gatepiers. Gilbert Scott and George Moffat, architects.

Sewerby House, terrace balustrade and attached garden wall, archway to Sewerby House, courtyard archway, conservatory, stable block, old laundry. Gate House and the Lodge, No 16 form a group.
