Description

  1. 5268 CHURCH LANE (East Side) Sewerby Sewerby House. TA 26 NW 8/48 7.9.51. I GV 2. Main block built circa 1714, incorporating some older work. 3 storeys in brick with pedimented centre breaking slightly forward. Strings between storeys. 7 windows with keystones and moulded stone architraves. In 1808, 2-storey bow fronted wings and a semi-circular Doric portico were added and the whole building painted to resemble stone. In 1841-1856 these wings were raised to 3 storeys. Very fine interiors and early C18 staircase. See Francis Johnson 'Bridlington Sewerby Hall and Park'.
