Description
The K8 telephone kiosk, designed by Bruce Martin and introduced in 1968, is located on the north side of the High Street, directly across from the 18th-century Ferriby House, which is listed as Grade II*, and the Stables to Ferriby House, a Grade II building from 1788 that now serves as a telephone exchange.
This kiosk features a square plan and is set on a concrete base. It is constructed from six cast iron parts and has an aluminium door. Three sides of the kiosk, including the door, are fitted with large sheets of toughened glass held in rectangular frames with rounded corners. The rear panel has a blind rectangular frame with rounded corners, and below it is an attached cast iron plaque that reads CARRON / COMPANY in relief letters. The flat roof dome has rectangular signage framed panes with rounded corners, each glazed with toughened glass and displaying the word TELEPHONE on a white background. The entire kiosk is painted cream.
