Description

The Manor House and screen wall date to around 1800. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond, with stone dressings and slate roofs. It is three storeys high and has a symmetrical five-bay facade, with the central bay slightly projecting. The main entrance features a double-leaf glazed and panelled door with an overlight, set within a Doric doorcase under a segmental pediment. To either side are French windows with glazing bars, each under a cambered wedge lintel with a fluted projecting keyblock. A first-floor band runs along the facade. The first floor has a sash window with glazing bars over the door, and two bays to the right; to the left there are two 2-light casements with overlights, all under similar wedge lintels. The second floor features five 2-light casements with glazing bars under matching wedge lintels. An eaves cornice and blocking course are present, along with end stacks. A 20th-century conservatory is located to the left, against a ramped coped screen wall that terminates in a square coped pier. To the right is a 19th-century extension, built in a style sympathetic to the main house. This extension has a central projection under a pediment and three 2-light unequal sashes with sills under cambered wedge lintels with projecting fluted keyblocks, alongside a band and corner pilasters with urns; and a ramped parapet.

Inside, various original features remain, including panelled doors, a cut-string staircase with scrolled tread ends, cast-iron balusters with a floral design, and a slender moulded handrail. The back staircase is also of good quality, with turned and fluted balusters, stick balusters to the upper flight, and a ramped handrail.
