Description
The George and Dragon Public House is a late 17th century to early 18th century building that was remodelled in the 19th century when the doorcase and entry were moved to the right gable elevation. It is constructed of brick, colourwashed, with a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and three bays.
On the ground floor, there is a tripartite sash window with glazing bars to the left, a 20th-century bow window with glazing bars in the centre, and a 19th-century canted bay with sash windows with glazing bars to the right. A first-floor band runs across the front. The first floor features a central blank opening flanked by 20th-century windows with glazing bars. The building has a stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice, end stacks, and raised gables.
On the right gable elevation, there is a door with six raised and fielded panels set in a late 18th-century doorcase. This doorcase has panelled reveals and is flanked by attached Tuscan columns, with a frieze decorated with festoons and a dentilled cornice and pediment.
