Description

Skirpenbeck House is a house dating from the mid-to-late 18th century. It is constructed of light brown brick with stone dressings, a timber eaves cornice, and a roof of Westmoreland slate. The house has a plinth and is two storeys high, with a symmetrical front elevation of three bays and a rear wing. The front door consists of six raised and fielded panels, topped by a fanlight with radial glazing, set within a doorcase that features fluted pilasters and dosserets supporting an open, dentilled pediment. The frieze of the pediment includes portrait medallions, flanked by wheatear festoons. To the right and left of the door are windows with 16 panes, with sills under slightly cambered, gauged brick arches. Similar windows are present on the first floor. The house has a modillion eaves cornice and end stacks, with raised, coped gables on shaped kneelers.
