Description
The Church of St Mary is a church with medieval origins that was rebuilt using older materials between 1844 and 1845. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble and features slate roofs. The church has a three-bay nave that includes a south porch and a west bellcote, as well as a two-bay chancel with a north vestry.
The nave is supported by a diagonal western buttress and another buttress with offsets. To the east, there is a two-light square-headed window with trefoil tracery, while the bays to the west have similar three-light windows. The south door is pointed and has a continuous broad chamfer, and there is a pointed door with continuous mouldings beneath a hoodmould leading to the porch. The west bellcote features two pointed arches beneath a vesica and has a stone gable, topped with a steeply pitched roof and raised coped gables.
The chancel includes a two-light pointed window with Decorated tracery and a three-light pointed east window with reticulated tracery. Inside, all the pews from the 1844-5 rebuilding remain intact.
