Description
This is a late Georgian cast iron lamp standard, likely made by William Crosskill of Beverley after 1826. It features a square base with stilted arches on each face of the lower step, and a wreath on each face of the upper step. The column is octagonal and designed in the style of a fasces minus axehead, symbolizing a disused weapon of war. Above a narrow collar, the column is topped with a modern copper gas-type lantern. The lamp standard is located in the grass verge opposite No 20.
