Description
24 The Weir is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and has a colour-washed finish with a slate roof. The building is two storeys high with a basement and features a symmetrical three-bay elevation. The entrance consists of a 20th-century panelled door with an overlight, set in panelled reveals and soffit beneath an Ionic porch that has an entablature and blocking course.
To the right of the entrance, there is a late 19th-century canted bay window with a four-pane sash, flanked by two-pane sashes on the left. There is also a two-pane sash window with a sill, which is set under a cambered, channelled wedge lintel that has a raised, fluted keyblock. On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window above the door, flanked by paired four-pane sashes, all under channelled wedge lintels with raised and fluted keyblocks. The house features a bracketed timber eaves cornice and has end stacks, with the roof hipped to the right. It is a matching pair with No 26.
