Description

This early 19th-century house is located in Hessle. It is constructed of grey brick with a slate roof. The original part of the house has two storeys and three bays, arranged symmetrically. A two-storey, single-bay extension adjoins it on the left. The front door is glazed and panelled, set within panelled reveals and beneath an Ionic porch with an entablature and blocking course. To the left of the front door is a late 19th-century canted bay with a four-pane sash window, flanked by two-pane sashes. To the right is a twelve-pane sash with a sill under a cambered lintel featuring a fluted keyblock. The first floor has three twelve-pane sash windows with matching lintels. A bracketed timber eaves cornice runs along the top of the house. A roof dormer contains a two-light casement window, topped by a segmental pediment. There are end stacks. The roof is hipped on the left side. The left extension features a large open carriage entrance on the ground floor and a large, 20th-century oriel window on the first floor, with a hipped roof and end stack. The building is a matching pair with number 24.
