Description
The Old Vicarage is a rectory, now a house, built in 1872 by G.E. Street for Sir Tatton Sykes. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and has a plain tile roof. The building has an irregular plan, featuring a main range, a cross-wing, and an additional gabled wing at the angle. There are two stone steps leading to a panelled door with glazing bars, located to the right in a pointed recess with a hood-mould. The windows are irregularly arranged and consist of mullioned designs, with two-lights and four-lights on the ground floor and three-lights and four-lights on the first floor, all set under relieving arches. The raised coped gables are finished with tumbled-in brick and kneelers. The building also features side and axial stacks adorned with blank trefoil-headed arcading, stone bands, and stopped cornices.
