Description
39 Ladygate is a building dating from around 1830 to 1840. It stands three storeys high with a red brick front. The roof is a low pitch gable end covered in slate, featuring an eaves band and spaced brackets at the flat eaves. The upper floor has two windows with flat stucco arches, while there is one boarded-up window to the left on the ground floor, all fitted with flush architrave framed glazing bar sashes. On the right side of the ground floor, there is a contemporary shop front consisting of five panes by four panes hung sash and a flush panelled door set within a pilaster frame, complete with a plain frieze and cornice. To the left of the front, there is a passage door. The building holds an important position and has strong group value with the adjoining buildings on the east side of Saturday Market.
